The QCrew started Black History Month with two special guests; Activist in You & UR Bath & Body. We had a great time with our sistahs from Activist in You!

Our Special Guests

Activist In You is rooted in activism starting in Chicago as of June 2017. Our passion is to educate and empower society to recognize the benefits of establishing humanity before race, gender, age, sexuality, educational and criminal backgrounds, while guiding individuals to speak up on their personal beliefs.

We are hosting our third event, Reclaiming Our Throne on Friday, February 9th, 2018. This event is about holding one another accountable & increasing unity in our community. Reclaiming Our Throne was created to celebrate Black History while providing insight on conversational topics such as black love, education, social media, & more!

Reclaiming Our Throne will take place at the south side YMCA, 6330 S. Stony Island Ave. We will start at 6 P.M. and end at 9:30 P.M. This is a free event! Join us to learn & see Activist In You in action!

Stay tune with us on Facebook, Instagram, & Twitter at Activist In You.

As you are living your life, remember that we are more alike than we are different. Go humanity!!!

********

It’s pronounced UR (You are) Bath & Body.

Our message is simple. We encourage people to “Be who U R ” and our products reflect that message. All of our products are handmade by those transitioning out of crisis such as homelessness and domestic abuse.

In 2010, Tracy Gunn, a former animal pharmaceutical sales rep, started UR Bath & Body in her kitchen. After a devastating layoff, a single mom with 2 kids, she invested $32 into making soaps to support her family and turned that into a successful business. All the of products are handmade by those transitioning out of crisis. The company offers a place of employment that empowers and promotes women’s independence from challenging family and abusive circumstances. The mission is too help uplift, reshape and rebuild the lives of those looking to regain their independence.

The Bronx isn’t just the birth place of hip hop – It’s the inspiration behind the UR Bath & Body brand. While visiting a women’s homeless shelter in New York City, Tracy noticed the director greeted each woman that walked through the door with a “UR” affirmation. “You are strong”, “You are brave”, “You are fearless”, that inspired Tracy to create products to inspire a sense of self, naming each product after an uplifting attribute.
