Family, this is your favorite queer radio personality Anna DeShawn here with our queer news from today.

Happy Galentine’s Day! Y’all are my friends now so we’re galetining this and I’m truly grateful for you being a friend of the show. You’ll notice that love is the theme of the day and woven throughout all of our stories. First Da Brat proposes to Judy after a beautiful heart-giving speech, Afro-Pop artist Lyle Anthony has a debut album titled “The Love Project”. Sylvester is our Black History Month spotlight who’s number one single of all time is titled was what family. That’s right. “You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)”.

We are leading with love for our top story today. You may not know but I’m a big fan of Da Brat & Judy. I am rooting for them for real for real. This weekend is Judy’s 40th birthday and Da Brat decided to propose to her. When I first heard the story my first thought was they’re already engaged. They are getting married on 2-22-22. LIke next week. We all saw Judy’s proposal on their show Brat Loves Judy. It was crazy elaborate with the coming to America theme and Judy bought 3 rings for Brat to choose from. Brat was clearly overwhelmed cause it was a big surprise and being out is still really new for her. Well this proposal from Brat just makes me smile and she did it for Judy’s 40th birthday. Brat wanted to show her commitment and get down on both knees for her. In the video you can hear Brat say, “Will you marry me to?…”I ain’t living this life without you!” Yessssss I felt that. In the video you can see her visibly shaking from being so nervous and Judy just talking her through it and reminding her to breathe. It is just precious. We need more love in the world and they really seem to love each other. May we all find & nurture this type of love in this life. I got it and it’s pretty sweet.

Our next story is about out afro-pop artist Lyle Anthony and his debut album titled, “The Love Project”. Gaye Magazine did a feature on him recently and I think this music is worth checking out. Lyle’s stardom began when he won “Pop Stars” in South Africa which inspired American Idol here. He’s performed on stage with the Black Eyed Peas and Shakira. The Love Project is composed of 5 tracks and when asked why he wanted to create this type of project he said, ““I felt that so many people, my people, needed a reason to smile, laugh, dance and love again.” We absolutely do and Lyle is all about spreading the love too. He has a Love Project Fund which goes to support misplaced youth and homeless elderly folks who need our help, some good cheer and a meal. He goes out weekly to provide all three. If you have some extra money and want to financially support this effort you can send money via Venmo or Cashapp. I’ve added all the details to the show notes.

Now y’all know its Black History Month and in every episode this month we are going to celebrate living at the intersections of being Black & Queer. With that our Black History spotlight today is Sylvester.

I’m going to close out today with a word about love. I love ya’ll. You are my Galentine  & I mean it. Y’all keep showing up and listening and enjoying the content. It really lifts me up to know that I’m not alone on this journey and speaking into the abyss. The three E’s for E3 Radio are to educate, empower & entertain. I hope you get a little bit of all three from the podcast. I saw this quote that said, “No friendship is an accident”. It’s no accident we’re here together at this moment in time. Thank you for showing up for this and I’ll continue to do the same. Till tomorrow family, peace.
