Transcript
Family, this is your favorite queer radio personality Anna DeShawn here with our queer news from today.
Today’s episode is dedicated to Elise. If you don’t know Elise’s story, take a listen to yesterday’s podcast. She is a Black trans woman, trans advocate, and LGBTQ leader here in Chicago who has gone missing. Her family hasn’t heard from her since last Wednesday. I had the opportunity to talk with her sister Fabiana yesterday and I want to play that interview for you today. Take a listen.
Interview
I report on Black trans women missing so often. It breaks my heart each and every time. Black women missing is and has been a long standing epidemic in this country. Y’all know we end every episode with a word. Anna’s always got a word. I want the word today to be about hope. Desmond Tutu said, “Hope iis being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.” Let us sit in hope while also taking necessary action. If you have any details please call the Evanston Police Department at 847-866-5040. Let’s work together on bringing Elise home.
