Family, it’s your favorite queer radio personality Anna DeShawn and this is Queer News. Your fav weekly news pod where race & sexuality meet politics, culture, and entertainment. 

Happy New Year! I hope your 2024 is off to an amazing start. I’ve been resting, relaxing a bit and reflecting. 2023 was a pretty amazing year. We won an Ambie, the Oscar’s of podcasting, for this very podcast. We won best LGBT & podcast of the year from the Black Podcasting Awards. I was inducted into the Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame. We hit our goal of 40,000 unique listens which is a 60% increase from last year. This puts us in the top 2 percent of all podcasts out here in the podverse. Our Jordan year was nothing short of pretty freaking amazing. And I want to keep this momentum going for 2024. One thing that is going to help is our listenership survey. 

I know I was supposed to stop it at the end of December but we don’t have 50 respondents yet. Thank you to the 46 people who have completed it. I was trying for 100 but I’ll settle for at least 50 so I’m giving this one final push. Just for this week. The information we’re gathering has been so insightful and I need more data to feel like we have a true sample of listers. I’m learning more about you, what you’d like to see more of and where you think we can improve. THANK YOU! The survey will take you about 7-10 minutes to complete.
