Now for the news. BG has been wrongfully detained for 152 days. You can hear the latest updates in yesterday’s episode where I recap her hearings from last Thursday & Friday. 20,000 march for trans rights while a Pennsylvania school district bans trans youth in sports. Lizzo drops her new album & Charles Barkley inspires our word for the day. Let’s go.

Over the weekend across the pond in Brighton, England they held their first in person trans pride in over two years and much like other prides this year’s attendance set new records. They clocked in 20,000 people. 20,000. The CEO of Trans Pride Brighton Sarah Savage told The Argus newspaper, “Trans Pride is about community, finding friends and connecting with family – and that can only be better in person.” She couldn’t be more right and folks have been yearning for our prides and festivals that the summer brings. One thing I think is pretty dope is that their trans pride starts as a march. They start with protest & I love that! A couple of the best parts of a good march are the signs & the chants. One sign read, “I just think it would be really neat if you could spend more time worrying about climate change and less time worrying about what’s in my knickers.” Another sign said, “You cannot debate us out of existence”. Then I heard a chant on one of the videos and they were saying, “LGB with the T”. I love it so much. They ended the march at a park which had a stage, performers, artists and the hot sun. I see nothing but pure joy amongst those who attended. This pride might just be worth a trip across the pond frfr.

Now back in the U.S. last week Pennsylvania’s governor vetoed an anti-trans bill which is great news, rite. Rite. Well in the wake of this veto a school district in Pennsylvania has decided to take up the issue themselves. The Hempfield School District voted 6-2 in favor of a new rule where students have to either choose to participate in co-ed sports teams or teams based on their assigned sex at birth. This policy affects nearly 7,800 students in this district. Chile’ the ignorance around this issue is so real and this trend won’t stop anytime soon. Not with elections approaching this fall. Not with all of the anti-trans rhetoric out here in the world. And where the governor’s veto is a very good thing we need a bill governors can sign to protect our trans siblings. So here’s to all of the political minds amongst us to do their thing.

In entertainment news, one of our favorite artists Lizzo has dropped her latest album “Special”. It dropped on Friday & ya’ll she has a track called “Everyboyd’s Gay” haha. This album is home to “About Damn Time” & “Grrls”. If you remember “Grrls” is the track Lizzo re-recorded to remove the term spaz after it was brought to her attention that it was an offensive term in the UK and around the world against people with disabilities. I love that she did that and it just solidified herself to me a real real one. So go download it asap and have your own personal dance party. You deserve.

I want to close out this podcast with a word from Charles Barkley who over the weekend declared his love for LGBTQ folks. Take a listen for yourself & if you’re ever feeling down just keep this sound on repeat cause it’s worth it. Till tomorrow, peace.
