Same-sex marriage is the law of the land while dozens of states still have bans on their books. New Jersey just changed that. A lesbian couple standing accused of murder is on the run. For my marijuana lovers out there allow me to introduce to you the LGBT strain here to get you relaxed. 

Our leading story for today is coming out of New Jersey. On Monday the Governor of New Jersey, Phil Murphy, signed legislation that wrote the right for same-sex couples to marry  into state law. Governor Murphy said this after the signing, “New Jersey is stronger and fairer when every member of our LGBTQ+ family is valued and given equal protection under the law. I am honored to sign legislation that represents our New Jersey values and codifies marriage equality into state law.” Now you might be just as confused as I was when I first read this story because same-sex marriage has been legal since 2015 when the Supreme Court ruled as such. I remember the moment very well. So I began to dig a little deeper and I found there are dozens of states that still ban same-sex marriage in their constitutions and statues. These bans are overruled by the federal ruling but what if that federal ruling is ever overturned. We see what’s happening with Roe v. Wade right now. The court could sway a completely different way and these states’ ban would be back into play. Moral of this story is that we can never stop fighting and standing up for our rights because given what Republicans pulled last year introducing hundreds of anti-trans and anti-lgbtq bills across the country they are clearly not stopping. Which means we can’t either. 

Next up a lesbian couple is on the run. Lisa Dykes and Nina Marano are accused of evidence tampering and murdering 23 year old Marisela Botello-Valadez. On Christmas day they cut off their ankle monitors and fled. Authorities didn’t notice until 10 days later. The reports say this probably occurred due to being short staffed and the holidays. Well both of them had $500,000 bonds which apparently they skipped out on paying. How is that possible? I thought ankle bracelets were impossible to get off but I guess not. Marisela’s family is of course angry and seeking answers. Her aunt says, “They got to spend the holidays together, I assume, in the comfort of their house instead of being locked away,”… “We don’t have that option. We don’t have the option to ever be able to sit there with Marisela again and celebrate or be out and about.” I wonder how long they think they can be on the run? AT this point it’s almost a month so we will see. I know one thing, these stories never have a good ending.

Now our last story for the day is one for my marijuana lovers. There is a strain called LGBT. Yes LGBT. Big ups to Gaye Magazine for coming through with this story. Ethos Genetics, one of the leaders in the cannabis genetics industry, created a cross strain comprised of 4 strains: The “L” i is for Lemon OG Haze, the “G” is for Grape God x the “K” is for Katsu Bubba, and the “T” is for Temple Kush. This strain is a hybrid and the description says it has “notes of citrus alongside floral and gassy tones.” This hybrid serves up calming energy and you may feel happy, uplifted and a little tingly too. This strain is really balanced and believed to provide anxiety and stress relief. Hytiva writes, “This well-balanced hybrid is known by consumers to slowly bring on a long-lasting, Sativa experience, that leaves you in a deeply relaxing Indica state. Many noted feeling waves of euphoria that increased over time, leaving them in a hazy and stress-free state”. LGBT is extremely rare but if you come across and you need to chillax this might be a good one to try .

Now it’s time for Anna’s Word of the Day. The word for today is to stop all self-defeating behaviors and thoughts. This is an affirmation I either listen too or repeat to myself everyday. Our subconscious is really powerful and it soaks up the things we take in. When we say things that begin with “I can’t” or “I”m not good enough too” it affects us. We should say “I can do x if I y” or “I am good enough to complete x and y can help me achieve it.” Negativity is sometimes really easy to miss because it can become a habit too. I challenge you to notice the moments when you aren’t speaking positively and immediately course correct. You will be better for it. Till tomorrow family, peace.
